CEI Marketing Assistant

Part Time – Approximately 20 Hours a Week

The Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation is currently seeking a creative, self-motivated individual who wants to begin an exciting career in marketing. This entry-level, part-time position is perfect for someone who is currently enrolled in college-level coursework that relates to marketing, business, entrepreneurship, media production or design, and would like to get their start in the field. An ideal candidate for this position would be a strong writer, have an eye for detail, understand the basic principles of design, and would like to diversify their marketing skill set at a professional level.

As the Marketing Assistant, you will be supporting a wide range of activities that includes writing for the web, generating visual content, monitoring social media, documenting client successes, and so much more! This is a great role for someone who has the desire to grow as a marketer, and who is willing to learn both independently and under the guidance of CEI’s Marketing and PR Coordinator.

Job Summary

Performs basic research, copywriting, design, creative production work, or logistical coordination in an assigned area in support of public relations, marketing, advertising, advancement and communications strategies, campaigns, programs and social media initiatives for the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation.

Supervision Received

This position reports to the Assistant Executive Director of CEI.


  • Assists staff with writing and editing website content using search engine optimization best practices in order to improve content and search engine performance

  • Assists staff in tracking social media marketing metrics

  • Supports development of brochures, flyers, publications, press releases, articles and other marketing materials

  • Researches industry standards, trends, best practices and emerging technologies

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Abilities & Personal Attributes

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Principles, practices and applications of proper grammar

  • Proofreading and editing standards

  • Customer service principles

The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Following directions and meeting standards

  • Providing attention to detail in assignments

  • Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines and prioritizing competing demands

  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Training & Experience

At minimum, a qualified candidate should possess a high school diploma and will have successfully completed at least 9 credit hours of college-level coursework in marketing, journalism, business, entrepreneurship, media production, or design. Equivalencies will be considered.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: None

Preferred: HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certified

Working Conditions

This position typically requires: typing, talking, listening, seeing and repetitive motions. Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.

Light Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
